JIRO!

Meet Jiro! He's our main mascot and the face of Shinya. Jiro, like all of our characters, is a ghost. We based him on some Japanese folklore and mythology of ghost cats or "bakeneko." Jiro can shapeshift and speak human languages allowing him to take any form he wants to! Jiro's best friend and rival is "Maki" the fish. His favorite car is the R34 Skyline which you can see him driving in a ton of our artworks. He's really an artistic representation of our in-house artist Josh. He's a mischievous and troublemaking cat - which was first referenced in our "Rule Breaker" and "Socially Irresponsible" collections in 2018 + 2019. You'll rarely find Jiro in his "true" form - think of our collab with NVZBL or our Triple 7's designs from earlier years. Check out some of the various forms of Jiro below!

MAKI!

Meet Maki! He's Jiro's rival and best friend. Maki is a salmon and we also have a cat (irl) named Maki that shares his namesake. Maki can also shapeshift much like Jiro can. He takes his fishbowl with him wherever he goes so he can breath - kinda like Sandy from Spongebob, but in reverse. Unlike Jiro, Maki drives a Trueno AE86. Our "Fishbones" motif is a salmon skeleton that we've used since the start of Shinya that represents Maki. "Maki" means roll - think sushi. Jiro and Maki together pay homage to a favorite movie of ours "Jiro Dreams of Sushi." In fact "Jiro Maki" when put together is an even more niche Kamen Rider reference. Jiro and Maki are always in competition since Jiro seems to take the spotlight most of the time. 

GHOST GIRL!

Meet Ghost Girl (or GiGi for short)! She's a school girl who suffered an untimely demise. She's haunted the Shinya universe ever since she died. A tragic love story is referenced in the heart shaped hole that can be seen in her head. Mental health is super important to us at Shinya and this is a personification of that. She's been in some of best and earliest designs like our Ghost Girl Hoodie and our Better With Friends collab with Get Some Sleep. She loves to drive cars as much as Jiro and Maki and travels around with them in her yellow RX-7. The three of them actually visited Japan together recently and had a great time driving through the mountains. 

SARU!

Meet Saru! Saru is a monkey and chef that is rarely seen in the Shinya-verse so far. She serves up delicious food that Jiro and Maki love to eat. She can be found and her ramen shop or sushi shop that she operates. Careful of those giant knives - they're sharp!
